The Cobry team were at Digit Expo in November to talk about G Suite in Edinburgh! Digit Expo is the largest business technology community in Scotland. It was great to meet and speak with some of the developers of emerging technologies in a wide range of industries in Edinburgh and throughout the country.
G Suite Edinburgh
The programme of the day allowed visitors to gain a better understanding of digital evolution. It also helped attendees to really see the impact that new technologies and innovations, like G Suite (Google Apps For Work), are having on businesses right here in Edinburgh and across Scotland.
The Human Element
There were some fantastic speakers on the day, including Craig Fenton from Google Cloud. Craig spoke about the importance of the human element in Enterprise IT and making sure that new technology is made relevant to the user. One of the examples he used was how the artificial intelligence in Google’s G Suite can make everyday tasks easier. The AI makes replying to emails, collaborating and scheduling events easier for everyone, whether they are using G Suite in Edinburgh or on the other side of the world.
We couldn’t agree more, as this is one of our main focus points when dealing with Change Management for clients moving to G Suite in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland. It’s so important for end-users to see how the latest technological developments can be applied to their own lives and really make a difference for them.
Building Effective Teams
One of our other favourite talks of the day came from Twitter UK’s Senior Director of Engineering, Jessie Link. Jessie spoke about how to develop and nurture effective teams. To do so, allowing for personal development and the autonomy to work in their own way was crucial.
One of the best ways that we find to do this is to ensure teams are intrinsically motivated. It’s also helpful for them to have a growth mindset. This means they are keen to learn and develop their skills to keep up with the latest technologies. Extrinsic motivations like bonuses often don’t help much, but what does is being genuinely engaged in work and enjoying it. Organisations frequently underestimate how damaging poor IT systems can be to productivity. They also usually unaware that there is another option for much greater employee engagement.
When speaking with organisations who have made the move to modern tools like G Suite in Edinburgh, we saw a huge boost in motivation and engagement, resulting in a workforce who are excited to get things done.
If you would like to find out a bit more about G Suite and what it could offer your organisation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via email@example.com. We would be delighted to have a chat about how we could help.
