Sustainability

Cobry was formed with a low impact ethos in 2013, and since has continued to commit to being a sustainable business which has a positive impact on its employees, partners, customers, society and the planet.

In 2021, with the support of Sustainable X, we aligned our businesses sustainability efforts to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

We'd love to share with you some of the ways in which we are already contributing to these goals and, importantly, how we're striving to become a more sustainable business.

Our Sustainability Efforts

Supporting Customer Innovation

We offer to create an Innovation Council with each of our customers which will support ongoing change management.

This drives faster identification and adoption of innovative ideas, whilst enabling us to use our expertise and experience of successes from other customers and sectors.

Staff Satisfaction

Enabling our people to achieve their full potential is a priority for us. Regular check-ins and
updates help people stay on track, and then we celebrate and reward success!

Helping people look after their health and wellbeing is another priority. Everyone is offered
Private Health Cover and we also provide access to a mental wellbeing app and encourage
its use.

Sustainable Partnerships

By being all in on Google Cloud, we are able to say we use the greenest Cloud in the industry. With each of its data centres running on 100% renewable energy and aims to be carbon free by 2030.

By its very nature, Cobry's partnership with Google and support of the Google suite of tools inspires internal and external initiatives to be more efficient, collaborative and scalable.

Living Wage Employer

Cobry is an accredited Living Wage Employer.

At a fundamental level we value our team and ensure that they are paid a fair wage and can enjoy the freedom this brings. Wages are also periodically reviewed in order to reflect the evolving roles and responsibilities of our employees.

Community Support

We are excited to have joined the ScotlandIS Critical Friends programme. The programme aims to bridge the IT skills gap by pairing industry experts with local high schools who can advise on study topics and provide resources.

By having a dedicated contact, the hope is that students will be inspired to choose computing science subjects and go on to pursue a career in the field.

“We believe that to be a sustainable business, it is pivotal that we bring our supply chain on our sustainability journey. This means that it’s very important that we understand our supply chain and support their sustainable development”.

"I'm really pleased with how the dashboard turned out, Cobry have done an amazing job".

Our Promise

It's great to celebrate the amazing things we're already doing, but what's more important is to recognise areas that we could improve on and create a plan of action to do so. Here's how we promise to do better in the coming year.

The technology sector is expanding rapidly, however, diversity remains a challenge for all. We are working with our recruitment partners and industry groups to create an authentic strategy to tackle diversity at Cobry.

Since creating our own action plan, we are increasingly engaging with customers to understand their climate ambitions & have established a committee to drive forward positive impact internally and externally.

Continuous professional development is central to how Cobry operates. This year, we will record the technical training hours conducted per employee to ensure that our people are best placed to provide the support our customers need.

Being built on Google Cloud means that Cobry benefits from reduced energy consuption. To understand our energy consumption as individuals we are taking steps to measure and reduce our energy consumption at home.
